The Université de Nouakchott (University of Nouakchott), also referred to as Université de Nouakchott Al-Aasriya, is a university in Nouakchott, Mauritania. According to its website it has about 30,000 students, 599 teaching staff and more than 100 study programmes. Its faculties include the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques and the Faculty of Economics and Management, and in 2024-2025 it created specialised law and economics centres and a National School of Architecture (École Nationale d'Architecture).
Studies are organised in licence, master's and doctoral cycles. The university offers 16 research master's and 8 professional master's programmes; a master's lasts two years after the licence (four semesters, 120 credits). Doctoral studies are organised in doctoral schools, which were restructured in 2024-2025.
The university takes part in Erasmus+ international credit mobility, with exchanges for students, doctoral candidates and staff, for example with Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and partners in Italy. Its student area provides online registration, online courses, results and guidance. The university is headed by its president, Professor Ali Mohamed Salem El Boukhary.

Graduate programmes
The university offers 16 research master's and 8 professional master's programmes. A master's takes two years after the licence (four semesters, 120 credits). The first three semesters combine core modules in the specialisation (at least half of the teaching hours), tool modules and optional modules; the fourth semester is devoted to specialisation modules with seminars or work placements, or to the placement and/or final dissertation. Doctoral studies are organised in doctoral schools.
