Admission Requirements

Undergraduate applicants from the UK or Ireland apply through UCAS. Applicants who pay international or special EU fees and have never used UCAS may instead apply directly on the Kent website, with no application fee, but must not use both routes. International students can also apply with the help of one of Kent's overseas representatives.

Postgraduate applications are made online directly to Kent, with no application fee. For research degrees there is no fixed closing date, but Kent recommends applying no later than three months before the intended start. Postgraduate applicants answer five personal-statement questions (up to 200 words each), and all applicants complete an admissions ID check.

Housing

International students (new or returning) are guaranteed accommodation for all years of study if they apply by the deadline; the current deadline for a guaranteed room on the Canterbury campus or at Pier Quays in Medway is 30 June 2026. There is no deposit or guarantor, and bills (heating, water, gas, electricity, Wi-Fi, personal possessions insurance) and gym membership are included.

  • Self-catered flats and houses, sharing a kitchen with 5 to 12 students
  • En-suite rooms or rooms with shared washrooms
  • Studio flats with own kitchen and washroom
  • Two options with a meal plan (£15 daily credit)
  • Accessible and adapted rooms

Contracts run from 31 to 52 weeks; 52-week accommodation is mainly for postgraduates. Applications open in January for September starters and in November for January starters.
