The University of San Diego (USD) is an independent Catholic university in San Diego, California, close to the U.S.-Mexico border. It was founded in 1949 and remains committed to the liberal arts tradition. In 2022-23 it had more than 8,800 students from 85 countries, including 5,669 undergraduates, and the university reports over 500 international students from 70 countries in its undergraduate and graduate programmes.
Undergraduate and graduate degrees are taught in seven schools and one college:

- Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science
- Kroc School of Peace Studies
- School of Leadership and Education Sciences
- School of Law
At graduate level USD offers 35 master's and three doctoral programmes, plus the JD, LLM and MS in Legal Studies at the School of Law. More than two thirds of undergraduates take part in study abroad. Students who are not US citizens or permanent residents apply as international applicants, and USD lists the secondary school credentials it accepts from each country, including the Spanish Título de Bachillerato.

Each school runs a career-readiness programme (PASSPORT in business, COMPASS in arts and sciences, CONNECT in engineering).
35 master's programmes and three doctoral programmes. Graduate fields include business, law, peace studies, nursing, marine science, theatre, education and leadership. The School of Law offers the JD, LLM and MS in Legal Studies in full-time, part-time or summer formats. International graduate applicants have a separate application route.
Applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents apply as international students; those who studied abroad are reviewed in the context of their national curriculum. USD publishes the secondary credentials it accepts by country (for Spain, the Título de Bachillerato). First-year applicants submit:
- Common Application with essay and USD member questions
- Official secondary school transcript
- One academic letter of recommendation from a counsellor or teacher
- Application fee of $75 (fee waivers possible in cases of hardship)
Admission review is holistic. For Fall 2027 entry the deadlines are 1 November 2026 (Early Action and Early Decision I), 5 January 2027 (Early Decision II) and 15 January 2027 (Regular Decision).
