The University of Suffolk is a university on the waterfront of Ipswich, Suffolk, in the UK, about an hour from London and Cambridge. It gained independent university status in 2016, having previously operated as University Campus Suffolk, and some programmes are also delivered at a London Centre. The university states that its campus is home to students from over 90 countries, and it was named University of the Year in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2025.
Most undergraduate courses use a 'block and blend' model, in which students focus on one module at a time. Study areas include:
- Biomedical science and health, including nursing, radiography and paramedic science
- Computing, data science and digital technologies
- Business management and finance
- Law, criminology and psychology
- Education and teacher training
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate taught and PhD programmes, and several master's courses start in January. International fees for 2026-2027 and automatic merit scholarships are published on the website. On-campus housing is available at Athena Hall, next to the Waterfront Building.

The International Merit Scholarship (2026/27) rewards international students who meet or exceed the published entry requirements on undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes at the Ipswich campus or the London Centre. Awards are £1,000 to £3,000, given automatically as a fee discount once an offer is made; undergraduates receive it in each year of study. University of Suffolk alumni get a loyalty reduction for postgraduate study, and external awards such as Commonwealth and Chevening scholarships are listed.
Athena Hall is the on-campus hall of residence at the Ipswich campus, next to the Waterfront Building. Students starting in September are advised to apply before the end of June; when it is full, the university recommends accredited off-campus properties within walking distance, such as 75 Grimwade Street and Ormonde House. International students on a Student visa must live within 70 miles of the Ipswich campus.
