The University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila) is one of the constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System and its flagship campus for health. Located in the Ermita district of Manila, it focuses on education, research and public service in the health sciences and professions. Its College of Medicine grew out of the Philippine Medical School, created in 1905, and the University of the Philippines itself was founded in Ermita in 1908. UP Manila also includes the Philippine General Hospital and the UP Manila National Institutes of Health, a network of 15 health research institutes and centres.
Bachelor's, master's, doctoral and diploma programmes are offered by its colleges and schools:
- College of Allied Medical Professions (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech pathology)
- College of Arts and Sciences
- College of Dentistry
- College of Medicine
- College of Nursing
- College of Pharmacy
- College of Public Health
- National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions and School of Health Sciences
Undergraduate admission is through the UP System's college admission test (UPCAT). Graduate admissions are handled by the National Graduate Office for the Health Sciences (NGOHS), and foreign applicants can ask for an early evaluation of their documents. Tuition discounts and grants-in-aid depend on household income and are reserved for Filipino students.
