Utrecht University is a wide-ranging international research university in the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands, with roots going back to 1636. In 2026 the university and UMC Utrecht celebrate 390 years of collaboration in research, healthcare and education. The university is organised into seven faculties:

Utrecht University offers more than 50 bachelor's degrees, as well as master's programmes, PhD programmes and continuing education. Its interdisciplinary research focuses on four themes: Life Sciences, Pathways to Sustainability, Dynamics of Youth and Institutions for Open Societies. University facilities include the University Library and the Botanic Gardens.

On its website the university brings together information for prospective students on fees, scholarships and the application process, and advice on when to start looking for accommodation and how to get to Utrecht.
