University, Graduate school in Hanoi, Vietnam

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU; in Vietnamese Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội, ĐHQGHN) is a multidisciplinary centre for higher education, research and technology transfer in Hanoi, which receives priority investment from the Vietnamese state. It traces its history to the Indochina University, founded in 1906, and was established in its current form in 1993 by merging three Hanoi universities: the Hanoi University, Hanoi University of Education I and the Hanoi Teachers' Training College of Foreign Languages. In May 2022 its headquarters moved to the VNU university town at Hòa Lạc, on the outskirts of Hanoi.

VNU is made up of nine member universities and five member research institutes, together with affiliated schools and centres. According to the university, it runs 190 undergraduate, 198 master's and 118 doctoral programmes in the natural sciences, technology, social sciences and humanities, economics, education and foreign languages, including interdisciplinary fields such as environmental science, climate change, nanomaterials and Vietnamese studies. In October 2023 it had 62,931 full-time students at university level and above, of whom 1,296 were international students, and 106 of its undergraduate programmes had national or international accreditation.

The website is mainly in Vietnamese and has its own admissions portal and scholarship announcements for VNU students.
