Xavier University School of Medicine, XUSOM

Xavier University School of Medicine (XUSOM) is a medical school on the Caribbean island of Aruba. It offers a four-year MD programme, divided into basic science semesters and clinical science rotations, as well as a Pre-Health programme for students preparing for medical school. XUSOM states that it is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and recognised by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and the Medical Council of Canada.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis all year, with no application fee, for three intakes: January, May and September. Admission follows a holistic approach that looks at previous coursework, documentation and writing samples as well as personal experience and attributes. US students can use private loan programmes and Canadian students provincial loans, and the school offers scholarships.

Students can live on the residential campus, renovated in 2021, which has two-bedroom suites, 24-hour security, a shuttle service, a cafeteria, a pool, a fitness centre and sports fields. A new academic campus with an auditorium, classrooms, laboratories, a library and a walk-in clinic is under construction.
