International applicants check the entry requirements for their country's qualifications and then apply in one of three ways: the university's direct application form (undergraduate or postgraduate), UCAS (undergraduate only), or a York St John country or regional office or agent. Successful applicants receive an offer and an invitation to Enroly CAS Shield, the onboarding and arrival system. Some courses require ATAS clearance, which is stated in the offer letter.
All UK, EU and international students starting an undergraduate degree in York are guaranteed accommodation in their first year if they meet the application deadlines, although not necessarily in one of their top three choices. Students can choose York St John sites, managed by the university, or partner provider sites run by third parties; all are close to campus. For 2026-27, weekly rents range from £132 at university sites to £208 at partner sites, and free contents insurance is included. London campus students live in private accommodation.
