Higher education in Nepal has a relatively shorter history than its neighbors. The era of higher education roughly began in the 1920’s when several universities were established in Nepal. As is well known to everyone, higher education helps in shaping meaningful, peaceful and prosperous lives. Structure of Higher Education in Nepal

Bachelors, Masters Degree and PhD degrees are offered at most colleges and universities in Nepal. While the duration of Bachelors degree depends on the subject of study, the general duration of Masters Degree courses in Nepal is two years. Most of the universities in Nepal are managed and funded by the Government. Many private colleges are, however, provided with affiliations by the public Universities.

 Undergraduate courses are offered in a wide variety of subjects ranging from information technology to social sciences, engineering to chartered accountancy and much more. Business administration is an upcoming subject of study in both undergraduate and post graduate levels. Most universities and colleges in Nepal also provide opportunities for master’s degree studies and M.Phil courses.

Medical colleges in Nepal

Nepal is well known for its medical colleges. While most are private colleges, there are also some government aided colleges. Admissions to these colleges are based on entrance tests or personal interviews. One needs to study science at the higher secondary level for being eligible for studying MBBS in one of these medical colleges in Nepal. Most of the colleges have excellent infrastructure and faculty. Many foreigner students come to Nepal to study in the medical colleges.

Keeping in view the economic scenario of the country, a number of vocational and professional training institutes have come up in Nepal. These enable students to obtain jobs quickly.
