Academia Caribe is a small Spanish language school in Santiago de Cuba, founded by Euqueria Zamora. It offers homestay Spanish immersion: students live and study either in their teacher's home or with a host family, on the dates and at the intensity they choose. At present the school offers only online Spanish courses; it states that its in-person programmes will be available again soon.
Courses are designed individually around each student's level, needs and goals, from complete beginners to advanced learners. All immersion programmes last at least one week and include at least 15 hours of classes per week; absolute beginners are advised to take three hours a day for two weeks. Programmes are mainly for adults over 18, and younger students must be accompanied by a responsible adult. A 14-day homestay programme includes 30 Spanish lessons.
Host families provide the accommodation and meals, and students take part in daily family life. To book, students email their course and accommodation preferences, receive a letter of acceptance and pay the full tuition fee four weeks before the course starts.

Admission

The full tuition fee is due four weeks before the course starts, and a photographic proof of identity, such as a copy of the passport, is required at booking. Programmes are mainly for adults over 18; students under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the course.
Housing
Students stay with a Cuban host family or in their teacher's home. Host families provide accommodation and all meals, and students join in daily family life, such as preparing meals and grocery shopping. On the 14-day programme the homestay includes a private bathroom, with full board, half board or bed and breakfast, plus light laundry and fresh linen and towels changed weekly. Homestays are also available without a course. In-person programmes are currently suspended (online courses only).
