COINED Buenos Aires belongs to COINED, an organisation founded in 1971 to run exchange programmes between German and Argentinian high school students, which later opened a school for teaching Spanish as a foreign language. COINED now runs Spanish courses at destinations across Latin America, including Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Cusco, and also offers volunteer and internship programmes.

Groups have a maximum of eight students, lessons last 45 minutes and courses start any Monday, for 1 to 52 weeks. The minimum age is 16, and new students take a written and oral level test. Teaching follows six levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and all teachers are native speakers with degrees in education, linguistics or related fields. Students can stay in shared student apartments, student residences, hostels or with host families.
