College Year in Athens (CYA)

College Year in Athens (CYA) is a non-profit educational institution that, according to its website, has acted as a cultural and educational bridge between the United States and Greece for over half a century. It runs study abroad programmes in Athens for college students, with on-site classes and courses offered in the fall, spring, summer and winter terms.

The Postbaccalaureate Program helps college graduates strengthen their classical language skills and their engagement with scholarship, and prepares them for admission to graduate programmes in Classics or Archaeology. Students at CYA come from colleges and universities across the United States, such as Kalamazoo College, Oberlin College and the University of Michigan. Learning extends beyond the classroom, with fieldwork and, for some students, shadowing placements such as one at the Andreas Syggros Hospital. CYA also publishes student guides to life in Athens, for example on public transport and on staying active in the Pangrati neighbourhood.
