Des Moines Area Community College

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is a two-year community college in Central Iowa, with its main address in Ankeny and 13 locations in the region. It began on 18 March 1966 as a vocational and technical learning centre in metro Des Moines. The college states that it is the largest college in Iowa and serves nearly 60,000 credit and noncredit students each year. Classes are taught in person, in web-blended format and online, and the average on-campus class size is 18.

DMACC offers more than 200 programmes, degrees, diplomas and certificates, including transfer degrees, organised into 10 academic and career pathways. Partnership programmes help students continue to a bachelor's degree:

• DMACC-ISU Connect, with guaranteed admission to Iowa State University when programme requirements are met
• 2 Plus 2 Guaranteed Graduation Plan with the University of Iowa
• Transfer Connection and online degree completion programmes with the University of Northern Iowa

Applying is free. International students are advised to arrive at least three weeks before the first day of classes. Student housing is available at the Boone Campus (Borgen Square Apartments) and the Carroll Campus (Hope Hall), and DMACC-ISU Connect students can live at Iowa State. The college helps more than 17,000 students a year with grants, scholarships, work-study and low-interest loans.
