Instituto Hemingway
Language school in Bilbao, Spain
Instituto Hemingway is a Spanish language school in the centre of Bilbao, close to the Abando and Casco Viejo metro stations. It has taught Spanish since 1999, is accredited by the Instituto Cervantes and is a member of FEDELE and APD. Courses cover all levels from A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework, with native teachers and small groups of five students on average.

Group courses start every Monday. Students take a level test before they arrive and receive teaching materials and a certificate of attendance and achievement. The school runs free cultural and leisure activities, and an attorney who specialises in visas helps students with residence permits for study free of charge. Accommodation options are host families (half or full board), shared apartments, a premium private apartment and a student residence; booking accommodation through the school is optional.

Admission
Language requirements
No previous knowledge of Spanish is required: courses start at absolute beginner level (A1). Students take a level test before they arrive so that they can be placed in the right group.
Housing
Booking accommodation through the school is optional. The options are:
- Host family near the school (at most 30 minutes by train, tram or bus), half board or full board
- Shared apartment within walking distance of the school, with a private room and shared kitchen and bathrooms, for students over 18
- Premium private apartment of 60 m2 with two bedrooms, for up to 4 people
- Student residence with a private room, own bathroom and cooking area, with no deposit required
- Hotel or hostel, on request
Accommodation is available from 12:00 on the Sunday before the course starts until 12:00 on the Saturday after it ends.
