Iqra University (IU) is a private university in Pakistan with its main campus on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Karachi. It traces its origins to January 1998 and was chartered by the Government of Sindh in 2000. Besides the main campus, it teaches at four other campuses in Karachi (Gulshan, North, M-9 and Airport) and at sites in Hyderabad and Islamabad.

IU offers associate, bachelor's, master's, MPhil and doctoral programmes. All programmes are recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, and professional programmes are accredited by national councils such as the Pakistan Engineering Council and the National Business Education Accreditation Council. Main subject areas include:

  • Business administration, accounting and finance
  • Computer science, software engineering and electrical engineering
  • Media and communication
  • Fashion and textile design
  • Education and social sciences
  • Pharmacy and health sciences

The university reports more than 45 national and international agreements supporting student and staff exchange, and it is placed in the 801-1000 band of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. Admissions for autumn 2026 are open through the online portal admissions.iqra.edu.pk; applicants with foreign qualifications need an IBCC equivalence certificate.

Admission

Applications are made online at admissions.iqra.edu.pk, where applicants receive an admission code and applicant ID. Requirements depend on the programme:

  • Four-year bachelor's programmes: generally at least 50% in the HSSC or equivalent; BE engineering programmes require 60% in HSSC (Pre-Engineering) and an entry test; Pharm.D. requires 60% in HSSC (Pre-Medical)
  • Master's programmes: 16 years of education with at least second division or a CGPA of 2.5
  • PhD programmes: a relevant MS/MPhil and NTS GAT (Subject) with at least 60% or a GRE Subject Test at the 60th percentile or above

All foreign qualifications, including A Levels, must be accompanied by an IBCC equivalence certificate.
