The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza was accredited in 1969, since when it is one of the four Mediterranean Agronomic Institutes of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies. The school creates and offers advanced courses for professionals, postgraduate specialization courses and Master of Science programs. Furthermore, it promotes and coordinates cooperative research programs as well as other various cooperation activities. The school is divided into five main functional areas: plant production, animal production, environment, agro-food marketing, and fisheries and aquaculture. A good number of these activities are carried out in collaboration with various national and international institutions of the Mediterranean region. They take place both at the IAMZ and in other centers of Mediterranean countries.
