The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus
University, Graduate school in St. Michael, Barbados
The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, is one of the five campuses of The UWI and is located on the island of Barbados. It grew out of the College of Arts and Sciences, which opened on 12 October 1963. Within the region it serves 16 countries of the Commonwealth Caribbean, and it also admits students from around the world.
The campus offers more than 350 programmes across seven faculties and 24 departments and research centres, with online, face-to-face and blended study options. Faculties include:
- Culture, Creative and Performing Arts
- Humanities and Education
- Law
- Medical Sciences
- Science and Technology
- Sport
Undergraduates can apply for certificate, diploma and bachelor's programmes, and there are postgraduate programmes, short courses and special admission for students who do not wish to take a full degree. International students can study a full programme or join the campus for study abroad; the university publishes separate fee information for them each year. On-campus housing is available in three halls of residence (Philip Sherlock Hall, Frank Worrell Hall and Keith Hunte Hall), and the Accommodation Office also helps with off-campus housing. The campus has about 40 registered clubs and societies.
