The University of Craiova (Universitatea din Craiova, UCV) is a Romanian university in Craiova, founded by Law 138 of 25 April 1947. It is a member of international networks such as the European University Association (EUA), the International Association of Universities and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, and reports 122 Erasmus partners plus 25 other partner institutions on several continents.
UCV offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes (Doctoral School), as well as distance learning, teacher training and lifelong learning. Teaching is organised in faculties including:
- Agronomy and Horticulture
- Automation, Computers and Electronics; Electrical Engineering; Mechanics
- Law, and Economics and Business Administration
- Letters, Social Sciences and Theology
- Sciences, and Physical Education and Sport
Foreign students apply through separate admission routes for EU and non-EU citizens, and a Romanian language preparatory year is available. Its international relations office also lists courses in foreign languages, a summer school and Eugen Ionescu scholarships. It provides accommodation in student halls of residence and canteens, with places for the 2026-27 academic year allocated by application, and has libraries, sports facilities, a botanical garden and a counselling and career guidance centre.
