University, Graduate school in Khartoum, Sudan
The University of Khartoum (UofK) is a public university in Khartoum, Sudan; the university describes itself as the largest and oldest in the country. It began as Gordon Memorial College, founded in 1902, and the Kitchener School of Medicine, Sudan's first medical school, was established in 1924. In 1947 the college became affiliated with the University of London, it was renamed University College Khartoum soon after, and it officially became Khartoum University on 24 July 1956, the year of Sudan's independence.
The university has more than twenty faculties and schools offering undergraduate and postgraduate studies, among them:
- Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing Sciences
- Engineering and Architecture
- Law, and Economic and Political Sciences
- Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine
- Science, Mathematical Sciences and Informatics
- Education, Arts and Management Studies
Undergraduate admission is governed by Sudan's Board of Higher Education, which sets minimum requirements according to the applicant's nationality and high-school certificate; postgraduate requirements are published by the university. Student life includes debates, book clubs, workshops and sports such as football, basketball, swimming and riding. University news reports that, for the first time since the outbreak of war, exams have been held in a decentralised manner.

Admission
Undergraduate admission policy is set by the Board of Higher Education of Sudan. It fixes the minimum entry requirements for school leavers according to their national origin (Sudanese or non-Sudanese) and the board that issued their high-school certificate. Requirements for postgraduate studies are published on the university's admission webpage.
