University of Malta
University, Graduate school in Msida, Malta
The University of Malta (L-Università ta' Malta, UM) is a university with a history of some 400 years and a long tradition of international academic exchange on the island. Its structures follow the Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area. The main campus is in Msida, and there are three further campuses in Valletta, Marsaxlokk and Gozo.
UM is made up of fourteen faculties, a number of interdisciplinary institutes and centres, three schools and a junior college. It carries out research and teaches across the arts, sciences and humanities, and the language of instruction is English. More than 3,500 students graduate each year. Study options include:
- Undergraduate degrees
- Postgraduate and research degrees
- Micro-credentials
Courses start in October; applications for October 2026 entry are closed, and the university publishes separate information for local and international applicants. International students are advised to arrange accommodation as soon as they receive their letter of acceptance, and the International Office recommends the Campus Hub Residence next to the Msida campus, which is run by a third party. Student life includes student societies, sport and international exchange opportunities.

Housing
Because demand for student and rental housing is high, international students are urged to secure accommodation as soon as they receive their letter of acceptance. The International Office recommends the Campus Hub Residence, right next to the main campus in Msida, which offers several options and packages and is operated by a third party not associated with UM. Private apartments are possible, but they require extra documents (Housing Authority forms, notarised lease) that can delay the e-Residence Permit application. Questions: [email protected].
