Yes, Honorlock can detect phones and other devices by using AI, audio cues, and multi-device detection to identify attempts to search for answers or access content, flagging these actions for live proctors, even though it doesn't scan your entire network directly. It uses patented processes to spot suspicious activity, like looking down or using Apple Handoff, and alerts proctors to review and potentially intervene.

Can Honorlock detect phones without a camera?

No, Honorlock does not scan other devices on your network, such as phones and tablets. We have a patented process for detecting when a test taker attempts to search the internet for exam content, which involves filtering web content and recognizing exam questions from the Learning Management System (LMS).

Can Honorlock detect phones on cellular data?

Honorlock does not scan home networks or monitor data from any device on the network other than the one used for testing. Secondary devices, such as phones, can be detected, but this is not accomplished by network snooping.

What gets flagged by Honorlock?

Students that are completely out of view will be flagged. Restroom Breaks Allowed Permits exam takers to leave the webcam view for a short period of time. The exam taker's session will be flagged if they choose to utilize this.

Can Honorlock just record your screen?

Honorlock will record your exam session by webcam, as well as record your screen. Honorlock also has an integrity algorithm that can detect search-engine use, so please do not attempt to search for answers.

Do professors check Honorlock recordings?

We use secure encrypted protocols to save and view all test taker assets. Honorlock's certified proctors and exam administrators can review test session videos until they are deleted based on the organization's retention policy or after 12 months.

How do you know if you got caught cheating on Honorlock?

If Honorlock flags your exam, you may receive a notification or a "live pop-in" from a proctor to assess the situation. Remember, a flag doesn't automatically equate to a violation. However, if a proctor deems your behavior to be a violation of the exam guidelines, they may report it to your instructor.

Can you do Honorlock on an iPad?

Honorlock is a Chrome extension for use with Chrome or other browsers as allowed, with the exception of Safari. Honorlock cannot be used on ipads. Refer to the Honorlock Student Resources for more info.

Can Honorlock be removed?

Remove the Honorlock extension when the exam is over. Simply navigate to the extension in the toolbar of Chrome, right click, and remove. You can reinstall the extension for your next exam. It takes less than 30 seconds to install the Honorlock extension.

Does Honorlock pick up audio?

1. How is voice detection being accomplished? Since audio is already recorded during each session, Honorlock is now transcribing the audio, in real-time, as the exam is in progress. A transcript will be created, for each session, with context as to what is said aloud.

How to disable Apple handoff detection?

Handoff is on by default. To disable it, go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, tap General, then turn off Enable Handoff.

What can Honorlock see on your screen?

Honorlock works within your web browser while taking an assessment in Canvas to observe behavior which may include recording of video, audio, screen activity, navigation or similar activities.

Can Honorlock see Safari?

Honorlock requires the current version of the Chrome Internet browser. It does not currently work with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Edge, Safari, or any other browser.
