How do e-grades work?

The E grade is a combination of the physical challenge and risk of a route. The technical grade is a bouldering grade that describes the most difficult part. Is it better to withdraw or pass fail?

Yes, for protecting your GPA, Pass/Fail (P/F) is generally better than a failing grade (F) because P/F doesn't hurt your GPA, while a "W" (Withdrawal) is also better than an "F" as it avoids GPA damage, but too many W's can raise flags for financial aid or grad school; the best choice depends on your situation, but an "F" is almost always the worst outcome. 

Can I bring my 2.7 GPA to a 3.0 in my senior year?

Yes, you can likely raise your 2.7 GPA to a 3.0 in your senior year, but it requires significant effort, focusing on getting A's, completing all work, and potentially taking higher-level (AP/Honors) or higher-credit classes, as a strong senior year performance can make a big difference, especially if you haven't taken too many credits already. It's challenging but possible by improving study habits, attending class, and earning excellent grades in your final semesters.
