Why is my major not on my diploma?

Your diploma likely doesn't list your major because it's standard practice for many universities to only show the degree type (B.A., B.S., etc.) and honors, with the major appearing on the official academic transcript, which serves as the detailed record of your coursework, while the diploma is a more ceremonial document of the type of degree earned. Some universities do include the major, department, or school, but it varies widely by institution, with some even distinguishing between different degree types (like B.A. vs. B.S.).
