Alegra School (Alegra British and International School) is a private Catholic school in the Madrid area, founded by a group of families and now celebrating 15 years. Its chaplaincy is entrusted to Opus Dei. The school admits boys and girls in Early Years and Year 1, and girls only from then on. It has more than 1,100 pupils, including some international students.

From a Lower Nursery class for two-year-olds and through Infants and Juniors (ages 3-11), Alegra follows the English National Curriculum; all subjects are taught in English except Spanish language (Lengua Castellana) and Religion, and French starts in Year 2. In Secondary and Baccalaureate (ages 11-18) it is an IB World School offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). The school describes its education as bilingual and bicultural, with teachers recruited from Spain and English-speaking countries. School life includes a British-style house system and a Speech and Debate programme.

Admission has four steps: application, personal interview and school visit, admissions tests and a final offer followed by introductory sessions for families. Tests include CAT4 reasoning tests and level assessments in English, Spanish and maths, and applicants spend a trial day in class.
