The American School of Valencia was established in 1974, since when it has grown from 27 to 750 students. It is an international, private, bilingual, university- preparatory school, receiving students from nursery to grade 12. ASV aims to offer a broad and well-balanced curriculum in a positive learning environment that provokes students to look for challenges. Students receive an American college-preparatory curriculum that later combines with the Spanish curriculum to prepare students for the Spanish universities admission exams. English is the main language of instruction. High School students also sit the PSAT and SAT exams. Thus, graduates receive both the Spanish Baccalaureate Diploma and the American High School Diploma. ASV has also been an International Baccalaureate Diploma school since 2004. ASV is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is fully recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education, thereby qualifying its graduates for entrance to American, Spanish and other universities throughout the world.
