American University in Dubai

The American University in Dubai (AUD) is a private university in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, located in Dubai Media City. It was established in 1995 and follows an American model of higher education. AUD is accredited in the United States by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and is recognised in the UAE by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). According to the university, it has over 2,000 students from more than 100 countries.

The academic year has a fall semester (September to December) and a spring semester (January to April), plus two summer sessions. AUD runs worldwide exchange programmes and accepts visiting study abroad students. On campus, the Student Housing Division manages residence halls, which are equipped for students with special needs, and students have access to a gym, a pool and other sports facilities.

Housing

AUD has on-campus residence halls managed by its Student Housing Division, with designated group study areas and access to the gym, pool and other sports facilities. Applications for a place are made online through the university's housing portal. The halls are equipped for students with special needs. Mattresses are provided; students bring their own bedding, towels and similar items. For short stays, there are several hotels near the campus.
