Gyeongkuk National University
University, Graduate school in Andong City, South Korea
Andong National University now operates as Gyeongkuk National University (GKNU), which was launched on 1 March 2025 and continues the history of Andong National University. GKNU describes itself as the "National University of Gyeongsangbuk-do", a key national university and a Glocal University in the region, with roots going back to 1947. It has two campuses in Gyeongsangbuk-do province, South Korea: the main campus in Andong and a campus in Yecheon, where two-year associate degree programmes are taught.
Undergraduate study is organised in these colleges and schools:
- College of Humanities, Social Sciences and IT
- College of Life Sciences and Engineering
- College of Education
- School of Nursing
- School of Glocal Co-prosperity, for adult learners
- School of Liberal Studies (free choice of major)
- College for Public-Sector Talent
For the 2027 academic year the university states that students may change their major freely, with no limits on numbers, frequency or year of study, except in the College of Education and the School of Nursing. The university also has a graduate school and a lifelong education centre. The Andong campus has a student residence (Garam-gwan), opened in 2004, and an international exchange building completed in 2010.
