Burke Mountain Academy is a private, college preparatory ski academy, based in Vermont, USA. It was established in 1970, and it is the first school of its kind founded in the country. The school welcomes about 65 students each year in the grades 7-12th. The academy admits students with the requirements of ski racing ability, academic achievements, as well as strength of character. Students not only come from the USA, but also from a wide range of countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Japan, Norway, Spain, Brazil, Korea, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. Since the program in the school is college-preparatory in nature, students are recommended to take 4 years of English, 4 years of math, 4 years of French, 3 years of science, 2 years of history, and art every year but the junior year. The teacher student ratio is 1:3, which makes the environment quite personal and individualized.
