Vermont Commons School (VCS) is a school in South Burlington, in northwestern Vermont. It was founded in the fall of 1997 by Robert A. Skiff, a former president of Champlain College, his son Rob Skiff Jr. and Leah Mital, starting with 32 students in two rented rooms of an office building at 75 Green Mountain Drive.

The school describes learning as a shared pursuit based on active participation, curiosity and critical thinking, with small class sizes and close mentoring by teachers. Three times a year, Encounter Weeks take students out of the classroom for hands-on, experiential projects. In summer, VCS also runs one-week day camps for children aged 8 to 11, modelled on the Encounter Week programme.

Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are considered on a rolling, space-available basis for grades 6 to 11; one-year seniors and postgraduate (PG) students are occasionally admitted. Applicants apply online through the Blackbaud portal, submit recommendations and report cards, and take an admissions assessment in writing and maths. Families who need it can submit a flexible tuition application.
