Vermont Academy (VA) is a co-educational college-preparatory boarding and day school in the village of Saxtons River, in the foothills of the Green Mountains in southern Vermont, United States. It serves grades 9 to 12 plus a postgraduate (PG) year on a 450-acre campus. The school has about 220 students from 22 states and 21 countries; around 70% board, the student/faculty ratio is 9:1 and classes average 10 students.
VA offers about 120 courses, including 30 honors and advanced-level courses, and teaches French, Spanish and Latin. Its Center for Teaching and Learning provides learning support and English Language Learning (ELL) sessions, at an extra fee. Students choose from more than 20 sports, theatre, music and studio arts. Vermont Academy at Mount Snow is the school's winter-sports programme, combining on-snow training with college-preparatory classes, and the Trailhead Program is an eighth-grade boarding and day programme for competitive winter-sport athletes.
About 40% of students receive financial aid. The nearest train and bus services stop in Bellows Falls, about five miles from the school.

Fees
Tuition and fees for the 2026-27 academic year:
- Boarding student: $79,500
- Day student: $43,900
- International student fee: $3,500
- Health plan (required for international students): $2,700 for 10 months or $3,000 for 12 months
- Health fee (boarding students only): $450 per year
- Program/activity fee: $500 per year; technology fee: $50 per trimester
- English Language Learning (ELL): $1,100 (2 group sessions a week) or $2,200 (4 sessions a week)

Scholarships and financial aid
About 40% of Vermont Academy students receive financial aid, totalling around $3.5 million a year. Grants depend on demonstrated need, the applicant's merit and other factors; need is assessed through Clarity, a third-party organisation, and families reapply each year. Aid for international students is limited. Through the Vermont Scholars Program, Vermont residents are automatically considered for merit scholarships of $5,000 to $15,000 a year, renewable for up to four years. Three tuition payment plans are available.
