Colegio Santa Joaquina de Vedruna

Primary and secondary school in Seville, Spain

Colegio Santa Joaquina de Vedruna is a school in Seville and part of Fundación Vedruna Educación. Its history goes back to the community of Carmelite Sisters of Charity of Vedruna (Carmelitas de la Caridad Vedruna), who arrived in Seville on 1 March 1880. On 10 October 1967 the school moved to its present building on Calle Espinosa y Cárcel.

The school covers all stages from early childhood education to Bachillerato and vocational training:

  • Early childhood education (Infantil)
  • Primary education for ages 6 to 12, in three cycles
  • Compulsory secondary education (ESO)
  • Bachillerato, preparing students for higher education
  • Special education, with psychologists, educational specialists and special-education teachers
  • Vocational training cycles (Formación Profesional)

Infant classes are organised around cooperative, project-based work, and secondary teachers use cooperative and project-based learning (PBL) and rubrics. The school also runs extracurricular activities, a music school and a canteen, and has used the Alexia platform for communication with families since the 2023-24 school year. The school office (secretaría) is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 10:30 and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 16:00 to 18:00.
