Colegio Hispano Británico is a private British school in Tías, Lanzarote, near the golf course in Puerto del Carmen. It was founded in 1976 by Roger Deign and is accredited as a British School Overseas (BSO); the school cites an Ofsted quality certification (DfE number 141421). It is a founder member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) and was authorised by the Spanish authorities in 1979 to teach under both the British and Spanish systems.
The school takes students aged 3 to 18. Its core is the British curriculum, with Spanish language and Spanish social sciences added, as well as German and Chinese. It is a Cambridge (CIE) and Edexcel examination centre:
- Early years and primary (Key Stages 1 and 2)
- Secondary (Key Stages 3 and 4) with GCSE and IGCSE exams
- Sixth Form with AS and A levels
- BTEC qualifications
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or C or above are needed for the Spanish secondary school certificate. Classes have at most 18 students. There are no entrance exams, but students over 6 need a reasonable command of English. Admission is open all year with no deadline, and short stays on the island are possible. Transport and lunches in the school dining room are optional extras.

Spanish language and Spanish social sciences are taught alongside the British curriculum, plus German and Chinese.
There are no entrance exams; students over 6 need a reasonable command of English. Families book an appointment with the office to visit the school, and a place is secured by completing the registration form and paying a deposit, which is deducted from the autumn-term fees. Admission is open all year with no deadline, as long as places are available, and students staying on the island for a limited period can also be accepted. Students with special educational needs are considered case by case, as there is no separate SEN class.
Students over 6 years old need a reasonable command of English to be admitted. The school combines the British curriculum with daily Spanish lessons and aims for students to be fluent in both languages.
