Oakley College
Primary and secondary school in Tafira Alta, Spain
Oakley College is an international British school in Tafira Alta, 15 minutes from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, for Spanish and international pupils aged 2 to 18. Donat and Mary Morgan opened it in 1989 as a nursery with 32 children. The school moved to its current site on Calle Zuloaga in 2005 and later added an A-level block (2011), Oakley Park with more than 5,000 m² of playing fields, a nature area and a science garden (2019), and a new primary building (2021). All departments share one campus, classes are small, and the school is inspected by NABSS.
Teaching follows the British curriculum for England and Wales, and about 80% of the school day is in English. Students graduate with dual qualifications: IGCSEs and the Spanish ESO certificate at the end of secondary, and A levels together with the Spanish Bachillerato at the end of Sixth Form. The school prepares students for university in Spain (including the EBAU), the UK and other countries.
Up to four languages can be studied: English, Spanish, French and German. A pastoral team, learning support assistants and programmes for neurodivergent and more able students support pupils. After-school activities such as football, basketball, tennis, judo and modern dance cost extra. Families can book a guided tour with the director.
