Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra (CSMN)

Higher education centre in Pamplona, Spain

The Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra (CSMN) is the higher music conservatory of Navarre, on Paseo Antonio Pérez Goyena in Pamplona. It trains professional musicians in classical, traditional and modern music, and teaches higher music degrees (enseñanzas artísticas superiores de música) in five areas:

  • Interpretación Clásico (Classical Performance)
  • Interpretación Jazz (Jazz Performance)
  • Composición (Composition)
  • Musicología (Musicology)
  • Pedagogía (Music Education)

Performance places cover a wide range of instruments, from orchestral instruments, piano, organ and harpsichord to jazz instruments, electric bass, drums and the txistu. Students can take more than one degree at the same time. Teaching is in Spanish, and the entrance exams are held entirely in Spanish.

Admission requires the Bachillerato or an equivalent qualification and a specific entrance exam; younger applicants with exceptional musical ability can access through a dedicated test. The CSMN is a member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires (AEC) and holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, with study, placement and teaching mobilities and a procedure for incoming students.
