East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) was founded in 1893 and is one of ten institutions in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). It is located in the Pocono Mountains of north-eastern Pennsylvania, about 90 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia. ESU has a 19:1 student-faculty ratio and awards more than US$19 million in scholarships and financial support each year.
Undergraduate programmes span art and design, business and finance, computer science and computer security, sciences such as biology, biotechnology and marine science, education and special education, nursing, exercise science, athletic training, sport management and hotel, restaurant and tourism management. Accelerated bachelor's-to-master's pathways are available, and ESU also offers master's and doctoral programmes and certificates.
International students apply through a separate International Students Application, for undergraduate, graduate or exchange study, and submit a credential evaluation of foreign transcripts and a TOEFL or IELTS score. On campus, students can choose traditional residence halls, suites, apartments or living-learning communities.

Admission
International undergraduate applicants complete the online International Students Undergraduate Application and send all secondary and post-secondary records with an official evaluation from a NACES member agency (with certified translations if not in English), TOEFL or IELTS results, a Financial Support Statement with bank statements or sponsor letters and, if relevant, a Promise to Provide Room and Board form. Applying early is recommended because of visa processing. Fall applicants are notified by May and spring applicants by December; admitted students receive the I-20 application.
Language requirements
Non-native speakers of English need a TOEFL iBT score of at least 79 or an IELTS band score of at least 6.0. Applicants whose native or primary language is English do not need a test.
Housing
ESU is a residential campus with traditional residence halls, suites, apartments and living-learning communities. Students can change their residential option and meal plan each year.
