Edge Hill University is a university in North West England whose main campus is in Ormskirk, Lancashire, within walking distance of the town and a short train ride from Liverpool and Manchester. It opened in Liverpool in 1885 as Edge Hill College, a teacher training college for women, and now has almost 10,000 full-time students, about 3,000 part-time undergraduates and almost 5,000 postgraduates. A small number of health courses are taught at its St James' campus in Manchester.

The university offers over 250 courses in three faculties: Arts and Sciences; Health, Social Care and Medicine; and Education. Subject areas include:

  • Business, accounting, finance and marketing
  • Computer science, engineering and mathematics
  • Law, criminology, policing and politics
  • Psychology, social work and sociology
  • Film, media, animation, creative writing and performing arts
  • Education and teaching, medicine, nursing and health

International students can apply directly, through UCAS for undergraduate degrees, or through agents and partners, and some postgraduate courses start in January. Edge Hill also takes part in study abroad and Erasmus+ exchanges. Its accommodation is owned and managed by the university and spread across six areas of the campus.

Full-time undergraduate, foundation and integrated master's degrees are applied for through UCAS; postgraduate courses (except PGCEs) are applied for directly to Edge Hill, usually online with a supporting statement. PGCEs are applied for through GOV.UK. International applicants can also apply through Edge Hill's agents and partners in their country. Undergraduate entry requirements are usually given in UCAS Tariff points; master's degrees usually require a degree, sometimes in a relevant subject or with a minimum classification. Edge Hill does not currently accept international applicants for pre-registration nursing, midwifery, operating department practice or paramedic practice.

Housing

Edge Hill's halls of residence are owned and managed by the university and spread across six areas of the Ormskirk campus, with en-suite options in some halls and adapted rooms for students with disabilities. Rooms are booked through the accommodation portal. A room on campus is guaranteed for first-year, full-time UK undergraduates who apply by the deadline; international undergraduate, postgraduate and study abroad students have their own guidance on living in halls. The university also gives advice on renting privately in Ormskirk.
