Eòlia, Centre Superior d'Art Dramàtic (Eòlia CSAD) is a drama school in the Eixample district of central Barcelona. Since the 2012-13 academic year it has taught the official four-year higher degree in Dramatic Art (Grau en EAS d'Art Dramàtic), recognised as equivalent to a university degree and authorised by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Since 2016 it has worked with AQU (Agency for University Quality) on its quality system (AUDIT-EAS programme).

  • Interpretation (acting), with optional mentions from the second year in Musical Theatre, Film and TV, or Direction and Dramaturgy
  • Stage Direction and Dramaturgy
  • Optional third-year line in English for Interpretation students
  • Approved master's degree in Musical Theatre Creation, taught in Catalan

Admission to the degree requires the Bachillerato or equivalent and a pass in the school's entrance test, held in June. The school takes part in Erasmus and other international exchanges and receives exchange students from partner schools such as UIC in Chicago and DAMU in Prague. It also runs non-official training: its own professional courses, open classes for young people and adults, and children's classes.

  • Interpretation (acting): 36 first-year places; from the second year students choose a mention in Musical Theatre (limited places, allocated by first-year marks), Film and TV, or Direction and Dramaturgy

More information about Graduate Programs

Master's degree in Musical Theatre Creation (máster homologado), run in collaboration with an external partner, for performers, composers, directors and playwrights. It is taught in Catalan and can be taken in full or in part.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachillerato or equivalent official secondary studies (to age 18)
  • A pass in the school's specific entrance test, held in person at the school in the second half of June; registration for the test runs from April to June
  • International applicants must start the recognition (homologación) of their secondary diploma with the Department of Education in Barcelona before enrolling in the first year

The school issues a letter of acceptance for the entrance test, for visa purposes, once the exam fee is paid. The one-semester English programme in the third year requires at least two completed years of official drama studies.

Language Requirements

The official degree is taught in Catalan and Spanish. Applicants to Interpretation must perform a monologue in Catalan in the entrance test (perfect diction is not required); Catalan is not essential for Stage Direction and Dramaturgy. The third-year acting line and one-semester programme for international students are taught in English, and places are allocated by language level.

Housing

The school has no student accommodation of its own. It has agreements with several flat and room search platforms that offer discounts, and with nearby student residences, including a collaboration agreement with the Onyx residence.
