Vocational school in Sabadell, Spain

ESDI (Escola Superior de Disseny) is a university school of design in Sabadell, near Barcelona, affiliated with the Universitat Ramon Llull. It was founded in 1989 by the textile design foundation FUNDIT, backed by more than 90 textile companies and organisations, and has been linked to the Universitat Ramon Llull since 1992. The school occupies the listed Docks Vells building in Sabadell; its Barcelona site, the former EATM fashion school, offers continuing education in fashion, styling and image.

The Bachelor's degree in Design is an official degree awarded by the Universitat Ramon Llull and quality-accredited by AQU Catalunya. It lasts four years (240 ECTS credits), is taught in person in Sabadell in Spanish, Catalan and English, and includes compulsory company internships. Admission requires a valid university entry route and an online creative admission test; international applicants need their previous studies recognised (homologated) in Spain or the process started. ESDI has more than 50 exchange agreements in 25 countries, through Erasmus+ and the Freemoving programme.

Programmes

Bachelor's degree in Design (official degree of the Universitat Ramon Llull, 240 ECTS, 150 places), taught in Spanish, Catalan and English. The first two years are common to all students; specialisation starts in the third year, with compulsory company internships and a final degree project. Specialisations:

ESDI also offers vocational training (ciclos formativos) in image consulting, pattern-making and fashion, made-to-measure costume, 3D animation and styling, and short courses such as summer courses, sewing, denim, illustration and CLO 3D.

Advanced and continuing education for the fashion, styling and image industry is taught at the Barcelona site.

Admission

Bachelor's degree in Design: applicants must meet one of the established routes of access to Spanish university studies and pass an online creative admission test. After passing the test they receive a letter of admission and can reserve their place. International applicants must have their previous studies recognised (homologated) in the Spanish education system, or have started that process, and take the same admission test. The admissions team supports applicants through every stage.

Duration

Bachelor's degree in Design: four academic years, 240 ECTS credits (60 per year), with classes from September to June. It includes a compulsory company internship worth 14 ECTS.
