Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño Pedro Almodóvar
Higher education centre in Ciudad Real, Spain
The Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño Pedro Almodóvar (EASD Pedro Almodóvar) is an art and design school in Ciudad Real, at Plaza de la Provincia 1. It was founded in 1911 as the Escuela de Artes y Oficios Artísticos de Ciudad Real, took the name of the film director Pedro Almodóvar in 2002 and has taught higher design studies since the 2002-03 academic year.
Its higher arts programmes (Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño) lead to the Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas de Diseño, which the school presents as university-level degree studies. Each degree lasts four years (240 ECTS credits) and includes external work placements and a final project. Two specialities are offered:
- Graphic Design (Diseño Gráfico)
- Interior Design (Diseño de Interiores)
The school also teaches the arts Bachillerato and two intermediate vocational cycles in printed graphics and screen printing. Admission to the design degrees requires the Bachillerato or an equivalent qualification and a pass in a specific entrance test; holders of a higher vocational diploma in arts and design (Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño) have direct access. Fees follow the public price scale of the Castilla-La Mancha regional government.
