The Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Málaga is the official language school of Málaga, located at Paseo de Martiricos 26. It teaches eleven languages: German, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, Greek, English, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian, in face-to-face, blended (semipresencial), distance and external-candidate (libre) modes, and also has a That's English department.
Spanish for foreigners is taught at A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1, and in 2026-27 all Spanish courses are face to face. A1, A2, B1, B2.1 and B2.2 run as four-month courses (September to January or February to June); A1, A2 and B1 are intensive, with classes from Monday to Thursday, while B2.1 and B2.2 meet two days a week. C1.1 and C1.2 are year-long courses (September to June) with 4.5 hours a week on two days. The school also offers A2, B1 and B2 certificate exams for external candidates, with registration in April and exams in late May or early June; according to the school, these certificates are valid for Spanish nationality applications.
Pre-registration for Spanish takes place in May and, for the four-month courses, also in January. Applicants need a copy of their passport and NIE (if they have one) and, for courses above A1, a level certificate or placement test. The school does not process visas, but students can request an enrolment certificate for a visa application. Fee payment instructions are translated into Chinese, Russian, English, Arabic and French.
