The Escuela Suiza de Barcelona (ESB) is a Swiss international school in Barcelona, run by the Fundación Escuela Suiza, a private foundation. It teaches children and young people aged 3 to 18, from early years and primary to secondary and upper secondary (bachillerato), following the principles of Swiss pedagogy in a setting where Swiss, Spanish and Catalan cultures meet.
German is the main language of instruction, and all students learn five languages:
- German
- Spanish
- Catalan
- English
- French
At the end of their schooling, students obtain a dual Swiss-Spanish qualification: the Swiss Matura and the Spanish university entrance exam (Selectividad). School hours run from 9:20 to 16:35 for P3 to 4th class and from 8:35 to 16:35 for 5th to 12th class, with optional care from 8:00 to 18:00. New facilities are being built: an 800 m² underground sports hall due in September 2026 and a new secondary building with renovated playgrounds due in January 2027.
Admission to P3 (age 3) starts in October, with information sessions, a guided tour and a personal interview with the school management. For P4 to 10th class, families fill in an online form and the school contacts them.
