Evangelical Christian Academy (ECA) is an international Christian school in Camarma de Esteruelas, in the Madrid region, founded in 1973. It teaches grades 1 to 12 in an American-based, college-preparatory system, mainly for the children of American and international Christian workers, and also admits other international students. Bible is studied every year and a Christian worldview runs through the curriculum. The school currently has 117 students; elementary classes average eight to twelve students and middle and high school classes about twelve.
High school students work towards an American-style diploma: 25 credits for the College Prep Diploma or 26 for the Honors Diploma, plus 20 hours of community service for each year in grades 9 to 12. Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses prepare students for the AP exams held each May. Non-native English speakers are tested for English proficiency before admission and can join the English-Language Learners (ELL) programme.
Music classes and private lessons are available, as well as after-school sports clubs such as basketball, soccer and ultimate frisbee. Students can also join mid-year if there is space in their grade.
