Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is a regional comprehensive university in Fort Myers, in Southwest Florida, in the United States. It has about 16,000 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 22:1. Half of its 800-acre campus is restored or preserved nature, used as a living laboratory for sustainability. FGCU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and its athletics teams compete in NCAA Division I.
FGCU offers 66 undergraduate, 29 master's and 7 doctoral programmes through colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education, Business, Health and Human Services and Engineering, an Honors College, and schools of Music and the Arts, Entrepreneurship, Nursing, Resort and Hospitality Management, and The Water School.
International undergraduates apply online with evaluated transcripts, ACT or SAT scores, an English test (TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5) and proof of funds. They can start in the fall or spring semester. The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) prepares non-native speakers for undergraduate or graduate study at FGCU. Campus housing has 4,748 beds, and 75% of first-year students live on campus.

International undergraduate applicants (F-1 visa) submit:
- The FGCU online application and a US$30 non-refundable fee
- Official transcripts evaluated by a credential evaluation agency (document-by-document for secondary school, course-by-course for university study; transfer applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA)
- ACT or SAT scores (applicants with fewer than 60 transferable credits)
- Official English proficiency results no more than three years old
- A Financial Statement Form showing funds for one academic year, dated within six months of enrolment
- A Visa Clearance Form if currently at a U.S. institution
Studies start in the fall (August) or spring (January); summer starts need special permission.
Applicants whose native language is not English need a TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based), 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper-based), or an IELTS score of 6.5, taken within three years of the intended term. Applicants who completed four years at a U.S. high school, hold a U.S. degree or come from listed English-speaking countries are exempt.
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) offers advanced academic English courses (18 hours per week, fall and spring; entry with Duolingo 80 or equivalent) to reach FGCU's admission level.
International students are not eligible for U.S. federal financial aid but can apply for FGCU Foundation Scholarships (application open each year from 1 October to 1 March; priority for applications by 1 January). The international FAQ also lists external options such as the Florida Linkage Institutes (for students from participating countries), the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship for women graduate students and the Southern Foundation Scholarship for on-campus housing.
Housing & Residence Life offers on-campus options from the first year through graduation, with 4,748 beds and staff on call 24/7. About 75% of first-year students live on campus. Applications and maintenance requests are handled through the Housing Web Portal.
