Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) is a residential undergraduate liberal arts college in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (United States). Its roots go back to Franklin College, founded in 1787, which merged with Marshall College in 1853. Lancaster is a short train ride from Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C.
F&M has 1,946 students, 20% of them international from 62 countries, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1. It offers 52 undergraduate fields of study and nine language departments, and dual-degree partnerships let students combine an F&M bachelor of arts with an engineering degree from a partner university.
The Joseph International Center is the hub for off-campus study, international student services and the international studies programme, and International Student Services provides immigration support. International students attend a compulsory orientation two weeks before classes start. Need-based aid, which according to the college supports 65% of enrolled students, is also open to international students. Students must live in college-owned or approved housing for all four years.

Charges for the 2026-27 academic year:
- Tuition: US$74,770 per year
- Health services fee: US$146; student activity fee: US$200 per year
- Standard double room (required for first-years): US$10,090 per year

- New student orientation fee: US$210 (one time)
International students can apply for need-based aid with the CSS Profile (for fall 2026/spring 2027) or the International Aid Form. Aid is limited, so admission is more competitive for applicants who need a high level of support. Admitted students have 100% of their institutionally determined need met for four years. Students admitted without aid in their first year cannot receive aid in later years.
Students must live in college-owned or approved housing for all four years. First-year students live in College Houses; from the second year, options include suites, apartments, single and double rooms, and theme houses (arts, sustainability, quiet living, wellness). Renters insurance is required before moving in. International students move in early for orientation, two weeks before classes start.
