Furman University is a private liberal arts and sciences university in Greenville, South Carolina (United States), with nearly two centuries of history. It has about 2,500 students, a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1 and an average class size of 14.
Furman offers more than 75 areas of study in 27 academic departments, leading to Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music degrees, as well as a small number of master's and Educational Specialist programmes. Students do not need to declare a major when applying, and a two-year advising programme (Pathways) helps them choose. Study away programmes cover six continents.
International students make up about 3.5% of the student body. They apply through the Common App or the Coalition App with no application fee, and must show a high level of English. Two international students receive the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship, covering at least half of tuition. Furman is a residential campus where students live on campus for all four years, in residence halls and, for juniors and seniors, apartments.
