Gándara International School is a small Montessori-inspired school in Mañufe, Gondomar (Pontevedra), Galicia. It takes children aged 3 to 12, with a maximum of 80 pupils and one teacher for every 10-12 children. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and authorised by the Xunta de Galicia. Its grounds cover more than 5,000 m², with a vegetable garden and green areas.
Teaching is trilingual, with English as the main language alongside Spanish and Galician, which are present at every stage. The share of English grows with age:
- Early Years (ages 3-6): about 40% in English
- Primary cycle 1 (ages 6-9): 45%, with subjects such as Science and Arts in English
- Primary cycle 2 (ages 9-12): 50% of the curriculum in English
The approach combines active Montessori pedagogy with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for inclusion, and assessment based on observation and pedagogical documentation rather than labels. A new nursery stage for children aged 1 to 3 opens this autumn. The school is open Monday to Friday from 8:15 to 17:00, and families can book a visit on any school day.
