Georgetown Day School (GDS) is an independent pre-K to grade 12 school with a city campus in Washington, DC, United States. It was founded in 1945 by a group of parents as a school where children of all races, religions and backgrounds could learn together, and describes itself as the first integrated school in Washington, DC. GDS is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools (AIMS).
The school has three divisions:
- Lower School: pre-K to grade 4
- Middle School: grades 5 to 8
- High School: grades 9 to 12, college preparatory
The High School offers 146 courses with a student-teacher ratio of 13:1, and the school states that all of its graduates go on to colleges and universities. The curriculum covers the arts, humanities and sciences, computer science and innovation, and world languages (Chinese, French, Latin and Spanish), and community engagement is organised through The Impact Lab. GDS fields 54 athletic teams in the Middle and High School, and learning specialists and a counselling team support students.
Applications for the 2027-28 school year are made online. Financial aid is given as grants that do not have to be repaid, and about a quarter of students receive it.
