Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private, nonprofit Christian university in Phoenix, Arizona. It was chartered in 1949 as Grand Canyon College, a Baptist-affiliated institution in Prescott, and moved to West Phoenix in 1951. GCU has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 1968. The university reports over 24,600 campus students and over 107,800 online students in 2025.
GCU lists 349 degrees, emphases and certificates across ten colleges, available on campus, online, in hybrid format or as evening classes:

Fields on the Phoenix campus include business, psychology, theology and fine arts. Campus students can live in residence halls or apartments, and the university competes in NCAA Division I athletics. Admission is based on high school or college transcripts; SAT or ACT scores are not required, and there is no application fee.

Applicants are considered for full admission on the basis of acceptable high school or college transcripts; SAT or ACT scores are not required, but test scores may be requested if GPA requirements are not met with transcripts alone. There is no application fee. Transfer students can check how many credits may transfer, and international credentials can be evaluated by the university (2026-27 fees: $175 basic, $250 course-by-course).
GCU offers residence halls and apartments on its Phoenix campus, including The Grove, four suite-style residence halls for first-year students only. Housing is booked as a lease for the full academic year (fall and spring). For 2026-27, residence hall rates range from $2,100 (triple room) to $4,100 (single room) per semester and apartments up to $4,400 per semester, including rent, water, electricity and internet but not tax. All housed students must choose a meal plan, and new applicants pay a $250 one-time housing application fee.
