Instituto Habla Hispana is a family-run Spanish language school in San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. It was established in 1996, and its teachers have an average of twenty years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. Students from more than 20 countries have attended the school.
Teaching follows a communicative method, and all activities are in Spanish, with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The group immersion programme runs Monday to Friday with 15 hours of classes a week: grammar from 9:00 to 11:00 and conversation practice until noon. Classes have a maximum of 10 students (5 to 6 on average), and a placement test on the first day assigns each student to a beginner, intermediate or advanced group. Students can start at any time, at the beginning of a session or mid-session. Each one-month term also includes 20 hours of cultural afternoon activities, such as Mexican song classes and guided walking tours of the town. Private lessons are also available.
Students can stay at the Habla Hispana Residence, on the school grounds, or with a Mexican host family; others arrange their own hotel or rental. Applications are made online, and a deposit confirms the place. Students under 18 can enrol only if an adult travels with them.

Programmes

Admission
Applications are made through the online enrolment form. The place is held once the application and a non-refundable deposit are received, and the school confirms by email; the remaining tuition is paid on the first day of classes, in US dollars or pesos. There are no application deadlines: places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Students under 18 can enrol only if an adult travels with them.

The school does not book hotels or rentals itself; its housing page lists local hotels and landlords that students contact directly. Homestays are arranged after the application and deposit are received.
